Upcoming Sequences

I want to start this post as a way to introduce projects that are “in-the-works”. In this post, which will be regularly updated, I will include a list of songs that are currently being sequenced and when they will be released. The songs listed below are not listed in any order and the estimated release dates are just that: estimates; the posted release date can change at any time. Going forward, this list will contain songs that are currently being sequenced as well as a past list of songs and their release dates. Please note, songs with “Premium” status are only available for premium members. The release date will reflect… Read More

xLights Update

The new xLights update has thrown a curveball (a good one). With the release of xLights 2020.06, the “Setup” tab has turned into the “Controller” tab. After seeing this update and testing all of the sequences from the website, I have discovered that letting xLights “convert” to the new controller tab isn’t always completely accurate. For that reason, I am in the process of converting each sequence in the online store. When a sequence has been updated, I will make a note at the bottom of the page. If the sequence has been updated in 03/2020 it will be completely compatible with the latest version of xLights. Because of this… Read More

The following is a rough list of what I will be covering. What is RGB? Display Schedule

I am wanting to share a type of schedule that I base my show off of. No, it’s not the run time of the display, this is the planning and execution of the display. Too many times I see people fall behind schedule and they have to run around trying to complete everything in just a few weeks’ time. Trust me, that is NOT what you want to do; speaking from experience, it is way too stressful and it takes the fun out of the hobby. So, I created a basic schedule that I try to stick to as much as possible. If you follow this schedule, you’ll keep yourself… Read More

Importing and Customized Sequences

Lights of the Night was founded for created beautiful and 100% custom sequences, and I still hold true to that today. Though I have added a storefront with pre-sequenced songs, I still offer completely customized sequences, as well as other sequencing services. New to the store is the “Import” service. This is where I take a sequence you have purchased and I import it into your own xLights setup. So what is the difference between an imported sequence and a custom sequence? There are a few. The first difference, importing sequences only works with the sequences that are available in the storefront. I will not import sequences that do not… Read More

Becoming a Member!

Part of the reason why I decided to upgrade this site is so I can include memberships for the site. As of right now there are 2 types of membership. The first is a generic and free membership. It’s simple enough, it’ll save your name, contact information, and address when you purchase anything from the storefront. The second is the Premium Membership, it is a paid subscription (you can find more details about it by clicking this link). I won’t go into too many details, but I’d like to give a short how-to on becoming a member of Lights of the Night. Step 1- Click “Register” In The Top Right… Read More

Welcome to my Blog!

I am starting this blog in the hopes that I can share useful information as well as provide some fun content all related to hobbies light displays. For a little bit of background, I started Lights of the Night in 2010 offering custom sequencing for residential displays. I have been sequencing since 2005 and I started this company when I was only 15 years old. Over the past 10 years, I have sequenced many displays, both residential and commercial, all over the world using both Light-O-Rama (LOR) and xLights software. It is my desire to grow Lights of the Night into a well-rounded company. By doing this, I want to… Read More
